Operating Model
The operating model is the foundation of a financial model on which analysts can layer on top valuation and transaction analyses, such as LBO, DCF and M&A models. Whether you’re recruiting for investment banking, private equity or hedge funds, you’ll need to know how to model a company’s operating performance.
Case Drivers
You’ll learn how to build models that can alternate between multiple scenarios at the stroke of a keyboard. To do this, we need to build case drivers, such as Downside and Upside cases. This is particularly valuable when analyzing different possible outcomes.

4 Reasons This Course Is Unique
So…why should you choose this course? We believe this is a highly unique financial modeling course for 4 reasons.
- Learn financial modeling FAST. We respect the fact that you don’t have a lot of time. Some courses have so much stuff it’s overwhelming: PDFs with hundreds of pages and videos with hundreds of hours. Worse, you’ll waste a lot of time learning useless obscure technicals that most people never use in interviews or on the job. This course is the exact OPPOSITE of that. It focuses on what bankers do regularly at Goldman, not fancy obscure knowledge. Each lesson video is concise and straight to the point. With this course, you can learn financial modeling in just 1 week. Not we’re not saying you’ll be as good at financial modeling as full-time bankers in 1 week. However, in 1 week, you will have a very strong technical foundation and a very good idea of financial modeling. From there onwards, you just need practice and reps.
- This course is taught by a former Goldman Sachs TMT banker. With this course, you will learn how to build financial models like how it’s done at Wall Street’s most elite investment banking group.
- Unlike other financial modeling courses, this course focuses on the logic behind technicals. You know that feeling where you learned something but can’t understand why it is the way it is? Worse, the instructor can’t explain it either? It’s the same thing in finance and you’ll get this feeling a lot with other courses. This course is different in that it places great emphasis in connecting dots, explaining how we get from point A to point B. With this course, you will not only learn how to build financial models, but you’ll also understand the logic behind everything and why you do what you do.
- This course invested significantly in graphics and animation. A lot of courses are just videos of PowerPoint pages with walls of texts. It’s just a banker reading off PPT slides like a college lecturer. Not this course. It’s full of graphics and animations to illustrate the technical knowledge. With this course, difficult concepts becomes simpler and much easier to understand through visual illustration.
So…being able to learn financial modeling like how it’s done at GS TMT, being able to understand the logic behind finance, being able to learn better through graphics instead of text-heavy PPT pages, and being able to learn technicals in 1 week.
That’s why this course is very unique. Check out the praise from happy customers below.

The courses were instrumental in my interview prep when transitioning from corporate finance to banking. I utilized the courses post-MBA with several years of finance experience and as a candidate in the CFA program, and the courses solidified key concepts I had learned elsewhere in a different and more practical way. The courses are presented clearly and concisely and the examples throughout keep it interesting. It is the most engaging finance course I've found.
PE Associate at Cerberus
This course is the best on-line program to train financial professionals at all levels. It offers insights and transferable skills that help one think from an investors perspective, which is very applicable to the buyside recruiting process. It was the best modeling and financial courses I have ever taken. Really appreciated and enjoyed it a lot.

I would strongly recommend the course to any undergraduate student looking to prepare for Investment Banking interviews. The course helps tremendously with foundational
knowledge about valuation and corporate accounting - topics that are frequently asked about in many different ways in interviews. A course like this is much better than memorizing [a guide], as it will give you the framework to approach practically any entry level IB interview question.
State School Professor
This course is a unique curriculum, offering incredible depth and insight into equity valuation in a manner accessible to all. For our students in the finance major, the curriculum reinforces concepts learned throughout the major while also offering new ideas and very practical instructions on how to put their knowledge to work. The curriculum does a great job of starting at the most basic level and building knowledge in a logical flow. The course is great for those without prior finance knowledge, but has also worked very well as a complement to university curriculum and has given our students invaluable ‘hands-on’ experience.'
Dartmouth MBA Student
I have a non-traditional background (think science) and despite being in a top MBA program, most of the courses I needed to prepare for banking interviews are not taught at my school until after the interviews. Such was my joy when I found this course. The first set of videos I sampled confirmed to me it was what I needed. I had initially considered using a very popular review book which consists of questions and answers but I quickly realized that the explanations in the book were not thorough. More importantly, given my non-traditional background, such Q&A book would not help me. What would I do if a question were presented differently from how I had read it in the book? I needed a solid foundation in Corporate Valuation and this course did the magic for me. The price is friendly and the content is second to none. Needless to say, I got multiple offers and that would not have been possible if not for this course. This is the unvarnished truth.

-
Why should I take this course instead of other courses?
There are four main reasons. First, this course is taught by a former Goldman Sachs TMT banker. With this course, you will learn how to do things like the best on Wall Street. Second, this course focuses on the logic behind technicals way more than other courses. It places great emphasis on connecting dots, so you understand the logic behind how we go from Point A to Point B. Third, this course has way better graphics and animation than many other courses. Many other courses are just videos with PowerPoint pages with walls of texts. It’s just you and the instructor reading the PPT slides like college lectures. This course is full of graphics and animations. The visuals make learning experience much more enjoyable and difficult concepts much easier to understand. And fourth, this course is more time efficient than other courses. You can learn financial modeling in just 1-2 weeks whereas other courses want you to spend months.

The coaching packages do not include this course.

Yes, the interview guide that goes with this course is The Core Technicals Guide. The two are meant to be used hand-in-hand to prepare for interviews.
-
How can I learn financial modeling in 1 week? Is this a gimmick?
A couple of points here.
First, you can absolutely learn financial modeling in 1 week. For two decades, the businesses behind financial modeling courses have been rewarded for bragging how much content they have in the courses. So every year, they add more and more content to the courses, making their courses packed with a ton of stuff that frankly most people will never use in interviews or at work. It doesn’t take that long to learn financial modeling. The other courses are just packed with a HUGE AMOUNT of low-utility stuff so they can say their courses have hundreds of lessons and hundreds of hours of content to make it sound more impressive. Students end up paying for it by wasting a ton of time studying low-utility information. This course operates under the same concept as our “Learn Excel for Investment Banking in 3 Days” course. We leave out all the low-utility stuff and focus on the things that come up frequently in interviews and at work based on the instructor’s experience at Goldman TMT.
Second, the instructor of this course invested 1-2 years in making this course. The instructor spent a ton of time thinking about how to explain every concept in the most concise form and illustrating it with the most helpful visual graphic. In some cases, the instructor would spend 1-2 days deliberating how to most concisely and simply articulate a 3 minute lesson. All of this investment is to save you time so you can learn things in the shortest amount of time possible. No other businesses would do this because the ROI is extremely low. Have you seen some professors explain to you a topic and you end up not understanding that topic for weeks or months and only eventually to “get it” when you come across a different way of explaining it? This is a key reason why we believe this course is way better than other courses. The huge amount of time the instructor invested into how to explain each concept in the most concise and easily understandable way will SAVE YOU A TON OF TIME.
Third, you will gain a strong technical foundation and learn how to build financial models in 1 week. Absolutely. However, don’t expect to be as good at it as full-time investment bankers. We’re not saying that and that’s nearly impossible. After the 1 week, you need to do reps and practice in order to become as good at financial modeling as the full-timers.
